Before taking your site live, you will want to make sure that you add your domain name within the Greenhouse. You can follow these steps to do so:
Step 1 - Go to your Dashboard
Step 2 - Click the More Button (located under Edit Site)
Step 3 - Click Domain Management
Step 4 - Click Add A Domain and then enter your domain www.yourdomain.com. *Note: Be sure when you enter your domain name to use lowercase letters. Using uppercase letters may cause issues with your site going live.
Step 5 - Click Add Domain to save your domain name to your account.
Step 6 - Click Add A Domain again, and enter your domain name without the www. So in this case you would add yourdomain.com. (This will help allow your site to pull up whether or not your users type www.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com)
Step 7 - Click Add Domain to save your changes.
Once this has been completed, you can continue with pointing your domain by following the steps below.
Step 1 - Go to godaddy.com, click Sign In in the top right corner and then click the next Sign In button as well. Enter your login information.
Step 2 - Click your account name in the top right corner, and then go to Manage My Domains located under Control Panel Links. If you don't see this option, see the second image below.
If you don't see the screen above when you log in, you may see a different view like the one below. If you see this screen, simply click DNS next to your domain. Then, skip to Step 6 below.
Step 3 - You'll see your domains listed in blue text. Click on the domain you wish to point to your Clover Site
(If you don't see your domain names listed with blue text, you may need to click the bullet and lines symbol in the top right corner to complete this step.)
Step 4 - Click on Manage Connection.
Step 5 - Click on the DNS Zone File tab in the middle of the page
If it says "Not Hosted Here", follow the steps under Changing Your Nameservers.
Step 6 - Click the paper and pencil located to the right of the @
Step 7 - Paste this Clover IP Address (220.127.116.11) in the Points To field, then click Finish
Step 8 - Click Add Record and add C-Name Record Type. Enter www in the Host area and place the @ symbol in the area marked Points To. Click Finish when done. (Note: If you get a message that says the www already exists, you can skip this step and move on to the next step.)
Step 9 - Click Save Changes in the red bar near the top (Note: If don't see a red "Save Changes" bar, you can ignore this step)
Keep in mind:
- Although in most cases you should be able launch your website within an hour of changing the DNS settings, this process can take up to 24 hours. Test to see if you can launch your website after you follow these steps but remember, it may not work right away. For more information on this process, check out our Trouble Launching Your Site article.
